Paralegal, Litigation
Essential Functions
- Provide general litigation support to the lawyers in the litigation department
- Organize and maintain commercial litigation files and arbitration matters and provide regular status updates to lawyers
- Draft routine pleadings and correspondence
- Coordinate service and filing of court documents at various levels of court
- Help prepare for hearings, trials, discoveries, arbitrations and mediations
- Manage timelines and court filing deadlines and coordination of hearing and discovery dates
- Manage and administer electronic document collections in Relativity and provide support with eDiscovery and productions
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation paralegal experience
- Paralegal diploma/certificate or equivalent an asset
- Experience with Relativity or electronic discovery software
- Strong knowledge of civil practice and procedure
- Ability to interact confidently with lawyers, clients and outside vendors
- Capable of working independently with minimal direction and supervision, as well as within a team environment
- Excellent time management skills/ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Excellent record keeping and analytical skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail
- Excellent written/oral communication skills for dealing and reporting status updates to lawyers, experts, clients
- Great attitude and work ethic
