TechJutsu is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal (Compliance & Privacy) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our legal and business operations, with particular focus on data privacy, information security compliance, and contract review and administrative support. Responsibilities include:

Contract Review & Management:

• Reviewing and redlining contracts, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Master Services Agreements, Partnership Agreements, Order Forms, Statements of Work, and other professional services contracts, with a keen focus on data privacy and security clauses (e.g., standard B2B and privacy/data processing addendums).
• Serving as the first line of review for contract redlines, coordinating with external legal counsel, and advising signing authorities on the acceptance or rejection of redlines, particularly regarding compliance matters.
• Organizing and maintaining contract files, tracking contract deadlines, and preparing documents for execution via electronic signature platforms.

Privacy and Compliance Support:

• Providing hands-on support for SOC 2 compliance efforts, including documentation preparation, evidence gathering, and coordinating with internal and external parties.
• Conducting research and providing advisory support on global data privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant frameworks.
• Assisting with client-facing security and due diligence questionnaires, ensuring accurate and compliant responses regarding TechJutsu's security posture and data handling practices.

General Legal and Administrative Support:

• Assisting with employment law matters as the company grows.
• Supporting the organization in potential mergers, acquisitions, or preparation for investment opportunities as needed.
• Providing other administrative support, including basic invoice management, document control, data management, and data reporting using Excel.
• Liaising with External Counsel on Intellectual Property requirements

Qualifications

• Foreign Trained Lawyer who is about to or has commenced the initial stage of the Canadian licensing process/Paralegal certification with 3-5 years of experience in a corporate contracts or privacy-focused setting.
• Strong familiarity with major data protection laws, such as GDPR and Other Privacy Regulations.
• A CIPP/E certification would be an asset.
• Strong proficiency in document management systems and office productivity software (such as Microsoft 365).
• Experience working in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with grant applications, legal documents, and patents is considered an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• A can-do attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

Additional Information TechJutsu is a work-from-home environment, as such a measure of self-discipline is required. We are a collaborative group, and you will be interacting with your teammates over video conference regularly and in person occasionally. Current residency in Calgary, AB is considered an asset for this role, facilitating immediate engagement with the broader team.
