Job Summary And Requirements

This is to fill one full-time, 15 month term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

Temporary Assignments maybe considered with supervisor approval.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Trial Coordination, the primary function of the Trial Coordinator is to plan and coordinate the schedules for both the Supreme and Territorial Courts of Yukon to ensure that court resources are allocated in an efficient and cost effective manner and that the public has timely access to justice.

• Successful completion of a post-secondary program in Legal, Office or Business Administration or other related field
• Experience coordinating hearings or legal calendars
• Experience facilitating communication between judiciary, counsel, and the public
• Experience providing judicial support services would be an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task with tight deadlines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, display tact and exercise good judgement
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of Yukon Rules of Court, the Criminal Code of Canada and other Territorial legislation
• Understanding of Judicial Independence
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
