OPSEU/SEFPO Seeking General Counsel

Join OPSEU/SEFPO as General Counsel, located in Toronto. This key position fosters strategic legal leadership and ensures an inclusive workplace for a diverse union membership.
As a senior leader, you will support transformative initiatives while providing expert legal counsel on compliance, labour relations, and risk management. This role requires strong collaboration with executives and a commitment to advancing equity within OPSEU/SEFPO’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver strategic legal counsel to senior leadership
• Develop risk mitigation strategies aligned with objectives
• Manage litigation and engage external counsel
• Oversee compliance with legislation and governance
• Build relationships with union members and stakeholders
Requirements:
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. from a recognized law school
• At least eight years of legal experience
• Knowledge of socio-political issues affecting labour movements
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Must hold membership with a Canadian law society
