4th Class Operating Engineer (Pan Room Operator)

Candidate must successfully complete a background check and medical/audio exam upon offer acceptance. The facility is unionized (Unifor Local 1959) and the successful candidate will be required to join the union upon commencement of employment.

Job Summary

Windsor Salt’s Evaporation Facility in Windsor, Ontario has an opening for a Pan Room Operator (requiring 4th Class Operating Engineer qualification). This person will be responsible for operating the food grade evaporation operations and effectively communicating and problem‑solving with the team to ensure production is running efficiently. The successful candidate will be able to work a 12‑hour continental shift schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Efficiently operate the Windsor Salt food grade evaporation operations
• Effectively communicate and problem‑solve with the maintenance team
• Contribute to a safe, healthy, and clean workplace by adhering to safety and quality standard practices
• Accomplish other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility
• Safety‑conscious team player

Additional Qualifications

• Current provincial certificate of qualification as a 4th Class Operating Engineer
• Other certifications such as GMP, confined spaces, and lock‑out training are considered an asset

Pay & Team Environment

The position is governed by a collective agreement. The starting hourly rate is $33.39, with the top rate (after three‑year progression) of $42.38.
