Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Project Procurement Specialist in the Energy Sector in Calgary, Alberta.

We are seeking a Project Procurement Specialist with strong experience in construction services procurement within EPC or capital project environments.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience sourcing and managing construction subcontractors and field service providers , including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation scopes. This role is focused on procurement of labour, installation, and site services , rather than materials or fabrication.

A typical day:

• Leading procurement activities for construction service packages , including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation scopes
• Developing and issuing RFQs/RFPs to subcontractors , managing bidder communications and clarifications
• Evaluating contractor proposals (technical + commercial) and preparing award recommendations
• Collaborating closely with engineering, project management, and construction teams to align procurement with project schedules
• Managing contractor relationships , including onboarding, performance tracking, and issue resolution
• Supporting contract negotiations, change orders, and scope adjustments throughout the project lifecycle
• Monitoring procurement progress to ensure on-time delivery of construction scopes and services

Successful candidates will have:

• 15+ years of procurement experience, with a strong focus on project and construction procurement
• Proven experience in construction services procurement within EPC or capital project environments
• Strong background sourcing and managing subcontractors (civil, mechanical, electrical, field services)
• Hands-on experience managing the full RFx lifecycle for construction scopes
• Ability to evaluate contractor capabilities, pricing, and risk to support sound award decisions
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering, construction, and project stakeholders
• Experience working in fast-paced environments where timelines, budgets, and execution are critical
• Proficiency with procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba) and procurement documentation processes

Further additional qualifications:

• Experience in oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects
• Familiarity with contracting models (e.g., EPC, EPCM, lump sum, unit rate, cost reimbursable)
• Experience supporting site-based or field procurement activities
• Knowledge of contractor prequalification, safety standards, and compliance requirements
• Strong understanding of contract administration and change management processes
• Professional certifications (e.g., SCMP, PMP, CIPS) are considered an asset
