Responsibilities and Tasks
• To adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
• To confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
• To discuss car repair work with supervisor
• To inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• To inspect the mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• To inspect motor in operation
• To review work orders
• To road test motor vehicles
• To test automotive systems and components
• To adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
• To adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
• To repair or replace mechanical units or components
• To test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
• To estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
• To perform scheduled maintenance service
• To test and adjust units to specifications
• To advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
• To complete reports to record problems and work performed
• To coach and instruct apprentices
• To provide customer service
