Job Responsibility: Finance Clerk Clinical Trials BC Cancer Vancouver, BC In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Director, Systemic Therapy and/or Director, Regional Operations, the Finance Clerk, Clinical performs accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting duties. The Finance Clerk prepares reports for review, reconciles general accounts and special purpose accounts and inputs data into financial and statistical reports to support the Clinical Trials program. What you'll do

• Develops and prepares financial and statistical reports by performing duties such as:
  • Preparing account analysis and reconciliations of the Clinical Trials cost centres.
  • Ensuring integrity of account balances and reports by analyzing and validating data.
  • Gathering, consolidating and entering data.
  • Using spread sheet and data base software to develop routine templates for the preparation of reports.

• Assists in the preparation and review of clinical trials budgets with relevant stakeholders and provides support in budget development.
• Assists the Director in monitoring Clinical Trial Unit budgets by maintaining spreadsheets used for forecasting revenue inflows and budgeting for cash outflows. Liaises with PHSA and BCCA finance staff as required.
• Performs the Accounts Receivable function for the Clinical Trials Unit by performing duties such as:
  • Invoicing, receiving and accounting of funds on an accrual basis from sponsoring agencies.
  • Maintaining accounts using data base software.
  • Following up on outstanding accounts receivables as directed.

• Performs the Accounts Payable function for the Clinical Trials Unit by performing duties such as:
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and related documents.
  • Ensuring approval for all invoices and expense claims as established by signing authority

• guidelines and circulating to the appropriate signing authority as required.
  • Checking extensions on invoices.
  • Reviewing the accuracy of account coding to invoices, expense claims and credit cards and

• assigning revised coding if necessary.
  • Forwarding approved and coded invoices to Accounts Payable for payment on a timely basis.

• Participates in the payroll function for the Clinical Trials Unit by performing duties such as
• providing coding information of staff to trial accounts and compiling and preparing various staffing reports as required.
• Engages in dialogue and information exchange with host hospital staff with respect to purchased services related to clinical trial activity. Supports the Principal Investigator and clinical trials staff.
• Performs other related duties as required.

What you bring Qualifications Education, Training and Experience

• Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized accounting course and three years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to supervise.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
