Title: Senior Property Accountant

Location: Concord, ON.

Salary: $80,000-$82,000

Job description:

Position Summary

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare year-end working papers for external auditors;

• Address external auditor questions / provide supporting details;

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and covenant computations required by lenders;

• Reconcile federal and provincial income tax accounts to interim statements and Notice of Assessments;

• Prepare stub period income calculations;  

• Prepare common area maintenance (CAM) and realty tax (RT) reconciliations;

• Prepare utility charge-back computations for high usage tenancies;

• Review leases and be proficient in operating expense recovery provisions and definitions;

• Respond to tenant inquires related to CAM and RT invoices;  

• Work directly with the realty tax consultant on tax bills and tenant allocations;

• Record year-end audit entries, validate final trial balance and Financial Statements, and send financial statement to external Owners/Partners;

• Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated Safety policies and procedures;

• Other duties/projects as assigned from time to time.

Key Competencies

• Sound knowledge of Accounting Principles (ASPE) as they are applied within the Property Management Industry;

• Sound knowledge of financial systems, specifically Yardi Voyager;

• Sound computer skills including knowledge of Excel (advanced);

• Ability to implement and follow processes;

Requirements

Education and Experience

• University degree

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CFA) an asset

• Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management • Thorough knowledge of all relevant federal, provincial and municipal reporting requirements

• Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications including Yardi Voyager, Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
