ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager – Coordinated Access, and working as a member of the Centralized Intake North West Mental Health and Addictions (CIONWMHA) Hub, the Clinical Lead is responsible for the clinical consultation, and support for the Access Facilitators and other hub staff. This includes consulting on any challenging referrals requiring complex decision making and collaborating with regional Health Service Providers (HSP’s). The Clinical Lead will support the change management activities and contribute to program development and advancement of the coordinated access model, working with HSPs across the North West Region. Superior customer service for both client, referral sources and receivers is important in performing this job. The Clinical Lead will work closely with other CIONWMHA Hub staff and members of the inter-professional teams within the catchment of the North West Health Region HSPs.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services.
  • Registered member in good standing with one of the following five Colleges regulated to perform the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy in Ontario: The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, The College of Nurses of Ontario, The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, The College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Experience related to client care for people from Indigenous, geriatric, and addictions and mental health populations.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) to effectively communicate with clients, referents and HSP’s.
  • Ability to complete complex analysis, using clinical knowledge, skill and judgement to synthesize screening information to support appropriate MHA service matching.
  • Strong time management, prioritization and organization skills to effectively address multiple tasks/duties and timelines in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.
  • Ability to work closely with others including other CIONWMHA Hub staff and regional HSP’s.
  • Analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, judgment, critical thinking skills, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgement and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information.
  • Knowledge and experience with referral processes, triage, and system navigation, specifically for individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness, and/or addictions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the social determinants of health of Indigenous people and the social consequences and associated risk factors.
  • Knowledge of community systems and resources for the purposes of networking between the facility/program and other services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant sections of legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Health Care Consent Act) and professional standards to ensure compliance and consistency in provision of client care.
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work.

Asset:

  • Experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience working with Indigenous people and people of other diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
