Job Purpose:

The Junior Accountant is accountable for:

1. Providing various accounting support to the Senior Accountant and assisting the Senior Accountant in completing all bookkeeping tasks

2. Coordinating and supporting all daily accounting and finance operations activities across Apaylo including but not limited to updating the daily Global Reconciliation file with numerous bank balances, reconciling against customer ledgers and updating QuickBooks Online

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities, including but not limited to updating the Global Reconciliation file with numerous bank balances and comparing this to the customer portal balances.
• Process a high volume of transactions with speed and accuracy.
• Assist in recording all banking related requirements including deposits, withdrawals. Wires, EFTs and account transfers on a daily basis and maintaining general ledger accounts in QuickBooks Online.
• Identify and investigate unreconciled transactions and provide solutions.
• Prepare and record various journal entries in QuickBooks Online.
• Support Accounts Receivable processes, including monthly invoice processing.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and relevant financial regulations.
• Support identification, investigation and resolution of variances.
• Ad hoc reporting as required
• Other work as assigned.

Requirements:

• Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce.
• CPA Professional Accounting designation in progress is required.
• 1 to 2 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to multi-task, to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High degree of accuracy with great attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal & communication skills, especially using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and Zoho.
• Exceptional MS Excel skills including usage of formulas and macros (VLOOKUP/Pivot Tables) is a must have.
• Exceptional Advanced QuickBooks Online skills are preferred.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
• Desire to learn, problem solve and seek solutions to problems is required.
• Experience in Fintech, Banking or a similar post is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Experience with data entry and record keeping.
