ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Tax Advisor , you’ll be involved in all aspects of Canadian Corporate Tax for a multi-national business , making this a role where your expertise truly matters.

In this critical position, you will drive the review and preparation of income tax provisions and returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance, collaborate across functions – working closely with accounting, legal, finance, and treasury teams to deliver strategic tax solutions and influence key decisions by providing insights that support business growth and financial performance.

Reporting to the Manager, Tax , this role offers exposure to complex tax matters and the chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office , with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule and an employer that prioritizes the work-life balance and mental well-being of its employees.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Manage Canadian international tax compliance requirements, including foreign affiliate reporting, cross-border information returns, Pillar Two (GloBE) compliance, and related compliance processes.
• Analyse and support Canada's foreign affiliate regime, including surplus calculations, FAPI, and cross-border financing matters.
• Lead responses to Federal international tax audits, resolving issues and maintaining robust supporting documentation.
• Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of cross-border transactions, financing arrangements, reorganizations, and strategic business initiatives.
• Support the review of Canadian tax provisions and analysis for external financial statement purposes.
• Support the review of the Canadian corporate and partnership income tax returns and other related filings.
• Conduct in-depth research on Canadian and international tax matters and develop clear, well-reasoned technical memos addressing complex issues.
• Manage relationships with external advisors and tax authorities on international tax and compliance matters.
• Contribute to special projects and complex tax matters, providing expertise and innovative solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering growth and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Drive process improvements, enhancing efficiency and accuracy across tax operations.

ABOUT YOU

• University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with a CPA designation and completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in Canadian corporate tax, including international tax compliance and advisory work.
• Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax, including foreign affiliate reporting, Canada's international tax regime, Pillar Two (GloBE), and EIFEL.
• Solid understanding of IFRS accounting for income taxes; experience with U.S. tax matters, SOX controls, and SAP S/4HANA is an asset.
• Proven ability to research and analyse complex tax issues, prepare technical memos, and communicate practical recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills, with experience mentoring team members and collaborating across functions.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and accountable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment.
