Position Overview

Sarina Homes is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Calgary. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for supporting financial reporting, reconciliations, project accounting, payroll coordination, tax filings, and general accounting operations across multiple entities. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and file GST returns for multiple entities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

· Assist with payroll and related HR administration, including preparing employment contracts and supporting benefits enrolment.

· Reconcile capital asset accounts, intercompany accounts, and bank accounts.

· Record general ledger entries and bank transactions accurately and on time.

· Review trial balances to ensure transactions are complete, accurate, and properly classified.

· Assist with monthly project draws, cost-to-complete reports, and quantity surveyor reports.

· Analyze and report on project cost variances.

· Provide secondary support for Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, cheque runs, vendor and project manager coordination, filing, and employee expense reimbursements.

· Support property accounting activities, including recording rent received and assisting with Common Area Maintenance letter preparation.

· Complete other ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks as requested by the Controller.

Qualifications and Skills

· Self-motivated, results-driven, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.

· Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Experience preparing financial statements.

· Knowledge of GST, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.

· Experience with QuickBooks is considered an asset.

· Experience with partnerships and public practice is considered an asset.

· CPA designation, or progress toward a CPA designation, is considered an asset.
