Marketing Intern

Job Description

We’re looking for a creative, outgoing and motivated Marketing Intern to support the Food Services marketing team at Wilfrid Laurier University. This is a hands-on role for a student interested in gaining real-world experience in social media, events, student engagement and brand marketing. This is part-time (up to 20 hours weekly), temporary role for 6-months.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with creating content for Instagram and other digital channels
• Capture photos and short-form video content around campus
• Help create graphics for menus, signage and promotional materials
• Support on-campus events, activations and campaigns
• Participate in tabling and promotional events across campus
• Speak with students about Food Services programs, events, promotions and feedback
• Help drive awareness and engagement through face-to-face student outreach
• Assist with social media scheduling and content planning
• Research trends, student interests and creative content ideas
• Support basic reporting and tracking of marketing performance

Must be available to work in the evenings and occasionally on weekends as needed for event coverage.

Qualifications

Someone with a positive attitude who is creative, reliable, organized and comfortable talking with new people. You should be confident engaging with students in person, working at events and representing WLU Food Services in a friendly and professional way.

An interest in marketing, social media, events, photography, video or design is a must. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or content creation is helpful, but a willingness to learn is most important.

This role is designed to allow students to further develop their skills and interests while playing a role in our Food Service department that strives to continuously support the Laurier students and community. This is a great opportunity to build a marketing portfolio while gaining hands-on experience with real campaigns, campus events, student engagement and content creation. 

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).

The pay range for this position is $17.95 - $20.00.
