Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining all dishes, pots, pans, silverware, glasses, equipment, and kitchen utensils are cleaned and sanitized
• Maintains dishwashing station, three compartment sink and related areas cleaned
• Ensures equipment is clean and in working condition; reports any issues to management
• Performs other light maintenance and custodial tasks
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
• Ensures security of company assets

Qualifications

• Demonstrates an understanding of basic sanitation procedures
• Must be able to follow basic safety procedures due to exposure to hazardous chemicals
• Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Steward – Dining Services

Join our Dining Services team in a busy, team-oriented school environment where every role contributes to creating a great dining experience for our students, staff and guests.

As a Steward , you’ll play an important role in keeping our kitchen and dining operation clean, organized and running smoothly. This is an active, hands-on position for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

• Operate the dishwashing area and ensure dishes, utensils, cookware and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized properly.

• Sort, wash and return clean items to their designated areas efficiently.

• Keep the dish area clean, organized and ready to support busy meal periods.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of back-of-house areas, including floors, work surfaces, sinks and equipment.

• Remove garbage, recycling and waste and maintain designated disposal areas.

• Support the culinary team by ensuring clean cookware, utensils and equipment are available when needed.

• Help maintain an organized and safe kitchen environment throughout the shift.

• Assist with receiving, organizing and putting away supplies when required.

• Support kitchen and dining room setup, teardown and general cleaning as needed.

• Follow food safety, sanitation, chemical handling and workplace safety procedures.

• Communicate with culinary and Dining Services team members to help keep service running efficiently.

• Take initiative during quieter periods to complete cleaning, organization and maintenance tasks.

• Pitch in with other Dining Services responsibilities and special events as needed.

• Are comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment.

• Can prioritize tasks and stay organized during high-volume meal periods.

• Are proactive and able to identify what needs attention.

• Understand the importance of food safety, sanitation and workplace safety.

• Are comfortable standing for extended periods and completing the physical duties associated with the role, including lifting, carrying, bending and repetitive tasks.

Previous experience in a kitchen, dishroom, food service or similar environment is an asset, but reliability, a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are equally important .
