Position: Finance Controller
Location: Mississauga, Ontario — Fully Onsite
Structure: Permanent, Full-Time
Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 base salary

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to lead the onsite financial operations of a prominent hotel and convention centre in Mississauga. This newly created position will play a critical role in transitioning financial activities from a corporate-managed structure to an onsite model.

The successful candidate will oversee full-cycle accounting, establish strong financial controls and provide strategic guidance to the General Manager, ownership and corporate finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the finance function within a growing, entrepreneurial hospitality group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all property accounting and financial reporting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and the general ledger.

• Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements, budgets and forecasts.

• Conduct variance analysis across hotel departments and provide actionable financial insights.

• Ensure compliance with provincial and federal taxation requirements, including corporate, HST and income tax obligations.

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls across hotel operations.

• Analyze hotel performance using key metrics such as occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, inventory and departmental costs.

• Advise the General Manager, ownership and department leaders on financial performance and operational opportunities.

• Manage debt-servicing obligations, loan repayments, interest schedules and lender covenant reporting.

• Oversee the FF&E reserve in partnership with ownership and property leadership.

• Consolidate property-level results with corporate accounts and ownership reporting.

• Coordinate financial audits and liaise with external auditors, banks and regulatory bodies.

• Review supplier and partner contracts for financial, legal and compliance considerations.

• Support the transition of financial data, reporting and controls from the corporate environment to the onsite finance function.

• Supervise and develop accounting team members as the function grows.

• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis for ownership and the General Manager.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

• At least 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within the hotel or hospitality industry.

• Strong understanding of hotel financial statements, operational reporting and performance metrics.

• Demonstrated full-cycle controllership experience, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, audits and internal controls.

• Experience providing financial guidance to senior operational leaders and ownership groups.

• Advanced analytical, organizational and communication skills.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial systems.

• Ability to work fully onsite in Mississauga.

• High level of integrity, professionalism and adaptability.

• Availability to work extended hours during month-end, year-end and audit periods when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA designation or equivalent.

• Experience with Opera, Oracle or another hotel PMS or ERP platform.

• Previous experience transitioning accounting activities from a corporate or shared-services environment to an onsite model.

• Experience with hotel openings, multi-property consolidation or a growing hospitality portfolio.

• Familiarity with lender reporting, debt servicing, FF&E reserves and contract review.

• Experience working directly with owners, shareholders and senior hotel leadership.
