Are you interested in power systems, technology, and using data to support the reliable delivery of electricity?

As an Engineering (Operational Technology) Co-op , you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the systems and technologies that help monitor, operate, and improve Nova Scotia Power's electrical distribution network.

Working with our team during the Winter 2027 Co-op Term , you'll collaborate with Engineers, Distribution Operations, and other business partners to support system analysis, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives related to operational technology platforms such as ADMS, GIS, AMI, and operational data systems . You'll contribute to projects that support safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery while gaining exposure to utility operations and engineering processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who enjoy a mix of engineering, technology, data analysis, and problem-solving . You'll contribute to meaningful projects, develop technical and professional skills, and gain valuable experience within the utility industry.

What you'll do:

• Assist with the analysis, testing, and validation of Operational Technology applications , including ADMS, GIS, AMI, and related engineering systems.
• Support ongoing projects by collecting, organizing, and analyzing operational and engineering data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Operational Technology Engineers, Distribution Operations, and other stakeholders to investigate system issues and support troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in testing and validation activities for new functionality, enhancements, and integrations involving operational systems and data platforms.
• Contribute to system documentation, process mapping, user guides, and knowledge-sharing materials for operational technology initiatives.
• Support the analysis of work orders, operational events, and data quality issues to help improve system performance and reliability.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and performance metrics used to monitor operational technology systems.

Who you are:

We're looking for a curious, analytical student who enjoys working with technology, solving problems, and learning how engineering systems support utility operations. You will be a strong candidate if you:

• Are currently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering .
• Have a demonstrated interest in power systems, industrial control systems, operational technology, data analytics, or utility operations .
• Have project, academic, or extracurricular experience related to engineering, data analysis, software applications, or utility systems, which is considered an asset.
• Are proficient with Microsoft Office ; experience with SQL and Tableau is considered an asset.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Have a willingness to learn new technologies, systems, and business processes.
