JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead complex infrastructure projects that shape and support critical operations.

We are seeking a Civil Engineer, Facilities to manage the planning, design, construction, rehabilitation, and lifecycle management of facilities and infrastructure assets, including buildings, marine structures, roads, utilities, stormwater systems, and site infrastructure.

As a technical expert and project leader, you will oversee capital and maintenance projects from concept to completion, manage consultants and contractors, provide engineering guidance, and mentor junior team members while ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead capital and facility infrastructure projects through all project phases.
• Manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee engineering consultants, contractors, and vendors.
• Conduct feasibility studies, condition assessments, and technical reviews.
• Review civil and structural designs, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Develop repair, rehabilitation, replacement, and asset lifecycle strategies.
• Provide technical expertise on applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Support planning and development of buildings, marine facilities, foundations, roads, stormwater systems, utilities, and other site infrastructure.
• Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance across all project activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree considered an asset).
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with Engineers Nova Scotia.
• PMP designation is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial, heavy civil, marine, facilities, or infrastructure projects
• Proven track record of delivering complex capital projects safely, on time, and within budget, combined with strong leadership, stakeholder management, and technical problem-solving skills.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
