Corporate ControllerWe are seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the company's global accounting and financial reporting function. Reporting to the CFO, this role is accountable for the performance, quality, and continuous improvement of multiple related accounting teams, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant financial information to support business objectives.The Corporate Controller plays a critical leadership role in developing departmental plans, aligning resources to organizational priorities, and driving operational excellence across the accounting function. The position requires a strong balance of technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and business acumen, with decisions guided by corporate strategy, resource availability, and functional plans.What You'll Do Lead the Global Accounting FunctionProvide leadership to managers and professional staff across multiple accounting areas (e.g., AP/AR, GL, and consolidations)Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes are accurate and on timeOversee global accounting operations, ensuring alignment with business needs and organizational objectivesFinancial Reporting & ComplianceOwn the preparation and delivery of internal and external financial reporting in accordance with IFRS or US GAAPEnsure compliance with regulatory, audit, and tax requirements across jurisdictionsLead the external audit process and maintain strong relationships with auditors and advisorsEstablish and maintain a robust internal control environment, including SOX where applicableDepartmental Planning & Resource AlignmentDevelop and execute departmental plans covering operational priorities, process improvements, and organizational initiativesAlign team objectives and resources with annual business plans and company strategyDecide on priorities and trade-offs based on resource availability and organizational goalsContinuously assess and optimize team structure, capacity, and capabilityOperational Excellence & Problem SolvingIdentify and resolve complex accounting, operational, and organizational challengesDrive continuous improvement in the efficiency, scalability, and quality of accounting processes and systems, strengthening close cycles, reporting accuracy, and control effectivenessRecognize and address the cross-functional impact of accounting decisions on broader business performanceBusiness Partnership & InsightPartner with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and business leaders to ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational activitiesSupport strategic initiatives such as product launches, pricing models, and market expansion with accounting and financial guidanceContribute to organizational decision-making by providing reliable financial insights and analysisWhat You Bring Experience & Expertise12+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including leadership of multiple teams or functionsDeep expertise in technical accounting, financial reporting, and global close processesExperience in a complex multi-entity or multinational environmentLeadership & AccountabilityProven ability to lead managers and professional staff, with accountability for performance across multiple teamsExperience developing and executing departmental plans aligned to broader organizational prioritiesStrong capability to set priorities, allocate resources, and drive results within a structured, policy-driven environmentTrack record of delivering high-quality outputs and continuous operational improvementTechnical & Functional SkillsComprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial systems, and regulatory requirementsExperience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) and financial reporting toolsStrong knowledge of internal controls and audit processesBusiness Acumen & Problem SolvingStrong understanding of business drivers and how accounting decisions affect broader organizational performanceDemonstrated ability to solve complex operational and organizational problemsAbility to balance technical rigor with practical business outcomesEducation & CredentialsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldCPA or equivalent designation requiredSuccess in This Role Looks LikeAccounting teams consistently deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality financial resultsDepartmental plans and priorities are clearly aligned with business objectives and resource capacityThe global accounting function operates with strong controls, efficient processes, and room to scaleComplex challenges are addressed proactively and effectively, with minimal disruption to operationsThe accounting function is recognized as a trusted partner that supports and enables organizational performanceFortive Corporation OverviewFortive's essential technology makes the world safer and more productive.
