Schedule: Candidates must be available to work any shift, as shifts may change frequently.

Compensation

• Base Rate: Up to CAD $28.96/hour
• Evening Shift Premium: + CAD $1.50/hour
• Night Shift Premium: + CAD $2.50/hour
• Overtime available per applicable policy

Job Summary

In accordance with established policies, procedures, packaging instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), health, safety, environmental regulations, and business processes, the Packaging Operator is responsible for performing preparation, packaging, inspection, cleaning, and equipment setup activities related to pharmaceutical products. The Packaging Operator ensures the quality and integrity of packaged products while maintaining compliance with GMP standards and site-specific operating procedures. The role supports production operations through equipment operation, troubleshooting, documentation, sanitation, material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

The following activities are performed in compliance with site policies, guidelines, packaging procedures, GMP requirements, health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational processes.

Packaging Operations

• Carry out preparation and packaging activities for pharmaceutical products.
• Perform required inspections and quality control checks during packaging operations.
• Verify packaging components and ensure proper product quality standards are maintained.
• Operate designated non-complex packaging equipment such as cavity/slat fillers and manual boxing equipment.
• Supply packaging materials and components to production lines and hoppers.
• Prepare parts and materials for subsequent production batches.
• Perform manual palletizing activities.

Equipment Setup, Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean equipment, machine parts, rooms, and work surfaces including floors, walls, sinks, and production areas.
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble packaging equipment according to GMP and established procedures.
• Perform line clearance activities before and after production runs.
• Inspect equipment and machine components for cleanliness, condition, and readiness.
• Start up designated packaging equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues during operation to minimize downtime.
• Understand production bottlenecks and prioritize interventions to maintain operational efficiency.
• Perform assigned Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CIL) tasks.

Documentation & Compliance

• Follow GMP procedures and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards.
• Complete and maintain packaging records, logs, cleaning labels, and related documentation accurately.
• Verify documentation and ensure compliance with packaging instructions and GMP requirements.
• Perform computer transactions and maintain electronic records as required.
• Participate in shift handovers and startup meetings to ensure operational continuity.

Material Handling & Waste Management

• Handle materials and production-related loads safely.
• Move component pallets between warehouse and production areas.
• Manage waste disposal activities, including pharmaceutical rejects and production waste.
• Support sanitation and housekeeping activities throughout the production environment.

Continuous Improvement & Team Support

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.
• Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities.
• Train and support colleagues as required.
• Participate in site committees and special projects when assigned, including:Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Continuous Improvement Programs
• Manufacturing Operations Committees
• Special Project Teams
• Support training follow-up activities, including updating procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Previous experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, or a related industrial environment preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or related manufacturing environments is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions accurately.
• Ability to safely perform material handling and physical tasks.

Work Environment

• Pharmaceutical packaging and manufacturing facility.

• Standing, lifting, material handling, and repetitive activities may be required.
• Flexibility to work day, evening, and night shifts based on business needs.

Language Requirement

• French language proficiency is preferred for effective communication and compliance with site procedures.
