Our client, one of the leading and most established firms in the Oxford area, is seeking a highly experienced Payroll Manager to take responsibility for the smooth running of a busy payroll department and lead a small, dedicated payroll team.

The Role

As Payroll Manager, you will oversee the delivery of multiple client payrolls, managing a significant portfolio across both weekly and monthly payroll schedules . You will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the department while supporting and developing your team.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a varied portfolio of payroll clients
• Running weekly and monthly payrolls with high volumes
• Supervising and supporting a small payroll team
• Reviewing payroll processes and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
• Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation
• Handling payroll queries and resolving escalated issues efficiently
• Supporting continuous improvement within the payroll function
• Building strong internal and client relationships

The Ideal Candidate

This role will suit someone who is confident leading from the front and has a strong track record within payroll.

You will ideally have:

• Extensive experience in payroll within a bureau, practice or multi-client environment
• Proven ability to manage weekly and monthly payrolls at volume
• Strong technical payroll knowledge and attention to detail
• Experience supervising, managing, or mentoring payroll staff
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• A professional approach and commitment to delivering outstanding service
