Position Summary: McGill Athletics is seeking a dynamic, organized and strong leader for the role of Redbirds football Head Coach. Duties include, overseeing all technical, tactical and strategic components of team operations, as well as student-athlete recruitment, skill development and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes. The incumbent understands the importance of the student-athlete experience and will have a proven track record of creating a positive team culture. The football program at McGill is rich in tradition and requires an individual who will lead in a manner which respects and upholds the values of the University. The McGill University football team competes in the RSEQ ( Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec ) conference of U SPORTS. Primary Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Director of Sports Programs, the Head Coach will ensure that the program functions in an environment that promotes the holistic development of student-athletes and recognizes the values of the University.
• Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: administer, organize and structure training camps, clinics, practices and game day operations; develop and monitor football seasonal plans; establish annual and quadrennial performance targets with agreed upon measures.
• Develop, take ownership and implement strategies for enhancing the football program;
• Recruit and liaise with elite student-athletes provincially, nationally and internationally;
• Build strong mutually respectful relationships within the football community regionally, provincially and nationally.
• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Collaborate with the Athletics and Recreation University Advancement Associate Director, and further develop relationships with McGill Redbirds alumni, donors and University community.
• Effectively supervise all coaches of the football program and support staff according to University polices and timelines.
• Manage football program overall budgets including regular reporting as required. Be fiscally responsible for all program accounts.
• Perform administrative tasks such as the organization of all staff and student-athlete meetings, validate student athlete registration processes and eligibility, update and validate staff work related hours and holidays, participate in all hiring committees related to football staff.
• Recommend and assign athletic financial awards as per U SPORTS and University regulations ensuring all award criteria are met.
• Comply with all University, RSEQ and U SPORTS rules and regulations.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

• Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and a Competition Development Certification from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Equivalent coaching certifications will be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and carry out a successful recruiting program directed at high performance student-athletes.
• Minimum five years' experience working with high performance student-athletes in football.
• Proven success in developing and nurturing relationships with student-athletes, staff, students, media, alumni and donors.
• Strong communicator and a leadership style characterized by enthusiasm, integrity and ethics.
• Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
• Evening and weekend work required.
