Cloud Accounting : AMLB takes the stress out of managing clients' day-to-day finances by providing a comprehensive cloud bookkeeping solution. From a digitized receipt capture solution to maintaining up-to-date financial records, we handle the clients' bookkeeping tasks efficiently and accurately. We also simplify accounts receivable and payable workflows by setting up and managing user-friendly AP/AR systems through tools like Plooto and Stripe to deliver a seamless, cloud-based solution for managing all incoming and outgoing payments.  
 

Tax Planning & Preparation : AMLB offers comprehensive tax support, including the preparation and filing of T2 corporate tax returns, GST/HST filings, financial statement management, and strategic tax planning. AMLB also provides T1 tax filing for owner-managers and audit support for CRA reviews, ensuring peace of mind and compliance throughout the year.  
 

Payroll: AMLB’s cloud-based payroll solutions enable clients to securely process payroll anytime, from anywhere. With WagePoint at the core, we manage direct deposits, T4 slips, tax remittances, and real-time updates, while leveraging collaborative tools to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and insight-driven payroll management.  
 

CFO Advisory: Through virtual CFO services, AMLB delivers strategic financial guidance tailored to the needs of growing businesses. Our advisory offering includes financial modeling, deep dives into profit and margin leakage, audit committee and board reporting, cash flow and forecast analysis, and key performance indicator (KPI) development—all at a fraction of the cost of an in-house CFO.  
 

Not-for-Profit Services:  AMLB provides end-to-end financial compliance and advisory for not-for-profit organizations, including preparation and electronic filing of T3010 Registered Charity Returns, funder reporting, and support with government rebate programs such as HST, property tax, and public service body rebates.

THE POSITION

The Cloud Accountant is a key contributor to AMLB's delivery of client services, with an opportunity to directly impact the client and team member experience. You will be the key client contact for a portfolio of clients, supported by a Bookkeeping Specialist, Payroll Specialist and Tax Specialist, and will be relied upon to surface issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to shape how AMLB delivers its Cloud Finance Services.

THE PRIORITIES  

Client Management: You will manage a portfolio of growth-oriented clients in a wide range of industries across Canada, ensuring that deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with client expectations. While you won’t be responsible for initial onboarding in your first 90 days, you will be copied on all client communication and expected to monitor for quality and risk, including ad-hoc advisory needs. You will review year-end trial balances, working papers, and financial statements with hand-off to the tax team, and work closely with the Payroll Lead to resolve any payroll-related issues raised by clients. 

Process Improvement : You will collaborate closely with AMLB’s Technology & Operations Specialist to enhance internal client service processes. Your mandate includes identifying operational inefficiencies, improving workflow systems, supporting the business QA program (without performing the actual monthly/quarterly bookkeeping reviews), and ensuring your team follows standardized, high-quality practices. This includes utilizing AI to improve the quality and efficiency of client service delivery and drive sustainable growth without taking on tasks that belong to the bookkeeping or tax teams.  

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take ownership of delivering timely and accurate bookkeeping, accounts payable, month-end / quarter-end close, sales tax filing preparation and management reporting responsibilities for a portfolio of Canadian clients utilizing a variety of cloud-based software


• Prepare monthly or quarterly financial analysis and reporting, including participation in client discussions via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams


• Respond to all client queries within 1 business day


• Prepare year-end financial statements and supporting working papers including proposed adjusting entries.


• For a subset of your clients on the CFO Plan, provide additional support as it relates to developing an annual budget, forecasts, supporting during external audits, debt/equity raises and other ad-hoc financial advisory services to help clients achieve their business priorities.


• Proactively surface and resolve risks and issues related to timeliness and quality of service to assigned clients


• Enhance sustainability and effectiveness of key processes by recording training videos and creating step by step procedures


• Participate in improvement initiatives by identifying process and experience pain points, analyzing root causes and implementing sustainable changes

  IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE  

• 3+ years of full-cycle cloud bookkeeping or accounting using Quickbooks Online or Xero for a portfolio of 10+ clients simultaneously


• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) is preferred


• Experience completing bank reconciliations, clearing accounts, and completing sales tax filings, payables and invoicing


• Prioritizes honesty, integrity and confidentiality to develop high-trust relationships with colleagues and clients


• Self-starter who works well autonomously and thrives in a fast-paced environment


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Strong attention to detail and due dates to produce high quality deliverables


• Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Teams in particular) and a passion for technology.


• We use cloud-based software including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext Prepare, Karbon, WagePoint and Plooto


• Demonstrated adaptability to test and quickly learn new concepts and tools


• Team members are asked to participate in at least one team meeting each week
