Join HomeEquity Bank as General Counsel, shaping legal strategy at Canada’s leading reverse mortgage provider. This role integrates corporate governance and legal risk management in a dynamic environment.
Reporting to the CFO, the General Counsel leads the legal function and supports the Board of Directors at HomeEquity Bank. Your responsibilities will include management of legal and compliance matters in a regulated financial setting. We seek experienced legal leaders with expertise in residential mortgage lending who can build impactful teams and deliver strategic legal counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the legal function and its associated risk management
• Advise on corporate governance and Board activities
• Manage compliance with banking regulations
• Supervise external counsel and optimize legal costs
• Implement efficient legal operations and processes
Requirements:
• 15+ years of legal leadership in financial services
• Expertise in mortgage lending and regulatory frameworks
• Strong ability to engage with executives and regulators
• Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree
• Member of the Law Society of Ontario
