Junior Accounting Assistant

We are committed to excellence, collaboration and innovation and we're looking for an organized and detail-oriented Junior Accounting Assistant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will support the Finance Team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions and ensuring compliance with internal procedures, while delivering exceptional customer service. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-driven and eager to grow within the field of accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with receiving and entering sales orders in the ERP system and checking prices against price lists

· Help with processing customer invoices, e-mail approved invoices to customers

· Sort and batch customer purchase orders, shipping documents and invoices

· Collaborate in entering customer payment receipts in the ERP system, file customer payments

· Prepare accounts receivable aging reports

· Assist with receiving, reviewing, verifying vendor purchase orders and invoice for goods and services

· Assist in preparing electronic transfers, cheque and wire payments

· Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records

· Reconcile accounts payable transactions, monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date

· Assist in researching and resolving invoice discrepancies and issues

· Help in maintaining updated vendor files and databases

· Provide administrative support with accounts payable inquiries from internal and external stakeholders

· Support month-end and year-end closing processes

· Prepare special reports and accounting schedules at period-end

· Assist in providing supporting documentation for audits, grants and government agency reviews

Qualifications:

· Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· at least 2 years of accounting or administrative experience

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Excellent communication skills and time management

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with minimal supervision
