Research Business Development Manager - LHSCRI/Academics and Research Operations

The Research Business Development Manager drives strategic initiatives to advance industry-sponsored research, commercialization, and innovation at London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute (LHSCRI). This role identifies and secures high-value opportunities connecting investigators with industry partners, funding streams, and commercialization pathways. A key focus of this role will also be streamlining the turnaround time for sponsored research agreements and industry licensing, effectively balancing institutional risk management while expediting high-impact collaborations.

Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, the Research Business Development Manager builds partnerships that fuel institutional growth, revenue generation, and research impact. Additionally, they champion LHSCRI's reputation as a leader in research excellence on a local, national, and international scale.

Regular Full-time

Rate of Pay: $61.24 per hour - $76.54 per hour

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

• Masters in Business Economics, Marketing or a related field required
• 5 years' experience required in business development, research administration, or industry partnerships
• Knowledge of academic research and healthcare environments, including Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP)
• Experience supporting partnership development and stakeholder engagement activities with the ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder processes
• Ability to think strategically and advance evidence-informed decision making
• Ability to plan, lead, and support quality improvement and change initiatives
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Flexibility and adaptability to change
• Time management, organization and multitasking skills
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate objectively and effectively with Research staff, partners, and leaders at all levels
• Proficiency in financial management and budgeting
• Demonstrated emotional intelligence and self-awareness
• Experience supporting commercialization or innovation initiatives preferred
• Understanding of industry-sponsored research and partnership models preferred
• Familiarity with research-related agreements, including confidential disclosure agreements, industry support research agreements, and intellectual property-related agreements such as license agreements, option agreements, etc. preferred
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
