Principal SAP Basis Consultant

Estimated salary in Ontario: $102,474 to $147,836. Requires residence within commuting distance of Mississauga/Montreal, Ontario/Quebec, Canada or willingness to relocate. Travel within Canada may be required.

About the Role

The role involves leading SAP architecture, migration, and integration projects for pharmaceutical clients within a regulated environment. It requires designing complex solutions, managing system performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business processes to identify optimization opportunities and draft detailed requirement specifications aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Define and develop solution architecture, steering customization and integration efforts based on thorough business analysis.
• Design and implement advanced customizations based on ERP platform capabilities and limitations, and develop critical software applications in collaboration with the development team.
• Develop and implement complex integration workflows to connect the ERP system with external applications; lead large‑scale data migration strategies to ensure data integrity.
• Implement advanced performance optimization strategies focused on scalability, reliability, and user experience; lead compliance initiatives through audits to uphold security protocols and industry standards.
• Develop detailed documentation for complex ERP customizations and lead training workshops tailored to various user groups to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
• Lead end‑to‑end SAP ECC to S/4HANA brownfield migration using SUM/DMO tools.
• Manage SAP landscape architecture, including HANA installations, upgrades, migrations, and performance optimizations.
• Configure, monitor, and administer SAP systems: ECC, S/4HANA, SAP HANA Database, Solution Manager, Fiori, Gateway, SAP Enterprise Portal, Web Dispatcher, and SAP BTP integrations.
• Perform system sizing, resource planning, and capacity management; ensure high system availability, resilience, and reliability across all SAP landscapes.
• Oversee SAP system copies, refreshes, kernel upgrades, and patch management.
• Conduct performance tuning for ABAP, HANA DB, and application servers.
• Manage transport management system (TMS), CTS+, and deployment workflows.
• Monitor logs, dumps, traces, and resolve complex system issues; manage HANA Cockpit, database configurations, backup/restore, and security setup.
• Ensure alignment with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements (GxP, FDA, CSV/CSA compliance).
• Implement SAP security standards, user administration, and role‑based access control; maintain SOPs, validation documentation, technical runbooks, and migration artifacts.

Required Qualifications

• 7 years of Information Technology experience.
• Experience in RISE migration; lead SAP RISE with SAP S/4HANA migration.
• Define and execute BASIS migration strategy for RISE Migration with planning, downtime optimization, and cutover.
• Experience in RISE migration, tenant copy; familiarity with System Transition Workbench methodology.
• Act as primary technical interface with SAP RISE teams and client stakeholders.
• Lead all BASIS activities: SUM/DMO, conversion, post‑migration stabilization.
• SAP System Data Center Migration experience.
• Knowledge of the entire project lifecycle of migration.
• Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent; work experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Authorized to work for any employer in Canada without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in S/4 HANA and HANA database administration.

• Must be comfortable sitting and working at a computer for extended periods.
• Effective communication by telephone, email, and face‑to‑face.
