Software Engineering Manager Java Fintech

Lead a hybrid team at a fintech company in North Toronto as a Software Engineering Manager. Focus on modernizing Java applications and driving architecture with cloud-first strategies.
This managerial position involves leading a team to upgrade a commercial software product, transitioning from legacy Java to a modern API and microservices architecture using Java v21 and AWS. You will utilize your strong technical background and leadership experience to mentor developers, ensure quality code, and improve development processes without direct coding responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee modernization of software products from Java 7-8 to v21
• Lead architecture and evolution of dev environments and infrastructure
• Guide Agile scrum teams in dev/qa/devops practices
• Coach developers on quality reviews and architecture best practices
• Manage API and microservice deployments on AWS
Requirements:
• Extensive experience in software engineering and architecture
• Strong Java, Springboot, and Linux background
• Proven management of cloud-first development environments
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Commutable to the Markham office four days a week
