Job Description

As part of our continued growth, AECOM has an opportunity for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls EIT . You will have a successful track record in delivering conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases, construction services in utility, Industrial and/or municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities, transmission and distribution and renewable projects to our clients based in Western Canada and the USA . This position will be based out of AECOM’s Winnipeg, Manitoba office.

The responsibilities of this position include: 

• Design of electrical power and distribution systems, lighting, grounding and control systems.
• Design and supervise production of drawings and specifications for complete electrical and automation systems including single line diagram, AC/DC schematics, field and panel control devices and SCADA for various processes including water/wastewater treatment, and utility applications.
• Strictly adhere to AECOM's project and Quality standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements upon request.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and the clients' standards.
• Ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely manner to expected quality and allocated budget.
• Work with Construction Contract Administrator to review Shop Drawings, prepare and issue responses to contractor queries.
• Perform site inspections and issue inspection reports, issue Field Instructions and Field Orders, and prepare deficiency reports.
• Provide technical support through all phases of the project.
• Understands the importance of meeting schedules, deadlines and good time management.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation & controls, or computer engineering. 
• 2+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control system design within multidisciplinary project environments, including construction-phase field support.
• Registered as an EIT or ability to become registered within 6-12 months.

Qualifications

• Strong experience producing detailed design and tender documentation (e.g., P&IDs, single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and layout drawings).
• Knowledge of protection relays, PLC-based systems, and low-voltage (600V) MCCs is an asset.
• Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., SKM, ETAP) is an asset.
• Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards (CEC, NFPA, CSA, and provincial building codes).
• Ability to interpret specifications and translate them into accurate, high-quality design deliverables with minimal supervision
