Support for Alzheimer's/dementia care

My name is Amanda, I am the daughter of a 71 year old man with Alzheimer's and Frontal Temporal Dementia. My mom is his primary caregiver and we are searching for a lovely, kind, social and energetic support person to take him out from time to time to enjoy fishing, walks, going for lunch or visiting friends. My dad has lived in Nelson since he was 19 years old when he joined the Firehall and retired after 32 years of service. He was unfortunately diagnosed around 5 years ago and now struggles within certain environments. My dad is a very social guy and we are hoping some organized activities would not only provide some respite for my mom but would provide some further quality of life for my dad. We are searching for someone that would be able to work with and understand frontal temporal dementia and the behaviours that sometimes come along with it. The successful support person would need a sense of humour and not take things too seriously. They would need to be able to redirect and have a calming presence for moments when he can get anxious or agitated. Please reach out to me directly for any further information or questions.
