Bike Tour Guide

Job Responsibility:

Do you love Ottawa, storytelling, and outdoor? Do you enjoy meeting new people, socializing and telling stories? We are looking to add to our team of dynamic, fun, amazing tour guides hosting guests in Ottawa!

Our guides live in and love Ottawa, enjoy the outdoors, are knowledgeable about the city and comfortable leading and entertaining groups. As one of our Bicycle Tour Guides you are often the first point of real contact for guests from around the world. You'll lead our tours from the most popular landmarks to Ottawa's hidden gems and neighbourhoods. You can connect to people of all ages and backgrounds and tell stories in a fun and engaging way. You will be directly responsible for the safety and enjoyment of your guests, so knowledge of safe riding practices and experience riding in Ottawa would be ideal.

Some of the responsibilities:

• Welcome guests and provide outstanding hospitable experiences for the guests and walk in customers
• Coordinate bike tour preparation and administration (greeting customers, bike fitting, signing waiver documents)
• Fit customers to bikes and explain how their bikes work
• Explain rules of the road and safe biking techniques
• Listen attentively and give personal recommendations
• Lead the tours in a safe and engaging manner

Requirements and qualifications:

• An ability to lead, organize, and engage groups of all ages (families, adults, youth, kids ) and diverse backgrounds
• Effective, professional and super friendly communication with guests
• Be personable, caring, patient and flexible
• Organized with excellent time management and ability to follow itineraries and schedules
• Have knowledge about Ottawa's history and current affairs (training will be provided)
• Speak English (speaking other languages particularly French, Spanish and German would be a great asset)
• Experience riding a bicycle in an urban environment, and fixing minor bicycle repairs is asset (e.g., flat tire). Training will be provided if needed.
• Be available to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays and long weekends; scheduling based on your availability
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certification

Availability and Schedule:

Our busiest times are weekends and holidays including long weekends. You may be required to work a varying work schedule in order to meet the needs of the business. This could include working on weekends, especially long weekends.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
