Shift details: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm (in person) Position Summary: The Working Chief Refrigeration Operator is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe and reliable operation of the refrigeration and building systems, including the day to day training and supervision of the refrigeration/maintenance team. The Chief will perform inspections, assist in the daily activities of the refrigeration/maintenance team and ensure all preventative maintenance and repairs of the building, equipment and systems are being implemented properly, timely and in a cost effective manner. Responsibilities: Your key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

• Completing scheduled and unscheduled repairs of equipment, machines, facilities and grounds including but not limited to dock doors, dock plates, minor floor repairs, HVAC, roll up doors, fire alarm systems, generators, fire pumps, and refrigerant detection and security systems;
• Operating refrigeration system as per TSSA rules and regulations;
• Providing direction, guidance, and leadership to the Refrigeration/maintenance team including scheduling, payroll maintenance;
• Manage the maintenance and log book records daily, as work is completed, and keep documentation in an audit ready state;
• Ordering and maintaining proper inventory of materials, supplies and equipment and complete spare parts inventory to update Operations Manager;
• Assist the Operations Manager in the procurement of vendor/contract prices for various projects, parts, equipment, and tool;
• Working with outside contractors to ensure that safety and security requirements are adhered to at all times;

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED required, College diploma or Bachelor's degree in maintenance preferred;
• Class B Refrigeration Certificate or 3rd Class from TSSA in good standing;
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a refrigeration operation and maintenance of buildings;
• Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising and leading teams;
• Must have working knowledge of HACCP and safe food handling and distribution practices;
• Must be comfortable reading Blueprints and Schematics;
• Experience with Raymond End Rider, Reach truck, Counterbalance, Scissor Lift and Order Picker is preferred;
• Comfortable working at heights, in a multi-temperature environment, and able to safety lift up to 40kg;
• Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation;
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with little supervision and be comfortable making decisions as they arise;
• Proven ability to multi-task, problem solve and manage calmly in stressful situations;
