Location: Calgary, AB

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day (flexibility for occasional work-from-home)

Contract: 1-year contract with potential for extension

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Land Advisor to join a close-knit and supportive upstream land team in Calgary. This role focuses on managing leases and contracts, supporting divestments, and providing expertise across Alberta-based assets. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, commercially savvy, and brings strong Excel/data skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Acquire and secure access to surface and/or subsurface rights to support asset development and protect value
• Develop, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements, including leases and rights-of-way
• Manage and steward contracts (including acreage, compliance, and risk management)
• Support acquisition, divestment, and monetization strategies for existing and new assets
• Evaluate land ownership, conduct title analysis, and resolve title defects
• Negotiate and manage disputes, claims, and mitigation strategies
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with stakeholders including landowners, government bodies, service providers, and partners
• Provide input into business strategy and identify cross-functional opportunities
• Coordinate and oversee contract personnel (both field and in-house)
• Provide litigation support as required

Qualifications & Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in land advisory, with flexibility for less experienced candidates showing strong potential
• Experience with both leases and contracts (strong preference for contract experience)
• Working knowledge of divestments and asset transactions
• Experience working with Alberta-based sites, including Crown and Freehold lands
• Strong understanding of title work, courthouse records, easements, alignment sheets, and acquisition documentation
• Proven negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Technical & Core Skills

• Strong Excel and data analysis skills (highly valued)
• Solid commercial acumen with the ability to structure agreements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities
