Power BI Administrator

Job Responsibility:

About XCIS Consulting:

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Administrator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who excels at managing the Power BI service environment, is comfortable working in regulated and secure environments, and understands the importance of data governance and scalability in enterprise settings.

You'll collaborate closely with analysts, developers, and IT stakeholders to ensure the Power BI ecosystem is robust, secure, well-governed, and high-performing.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and manage the Power BI Service (workspace management, dataflows, capacities, user access).

- Implement and enforce data governance policies and standards across the BI environment.

- Monitor and optimize the performance and usage of Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets.

- Manage security roles, permissions, and RLS (Row-Level Security).

- Work with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and security protocols.

- Assist in the migration of legacy reports to Power BI, ensuring minimal disruption and data accuracy.

- Troubleshoot issues related to report performance, data refresh, gateway connectivity, etc.

- Support Power BI desktop users with best practices and training when needed.

- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to support data model optimization and backend integration.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience working with Power BI in an enterprise setting.

- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric

- Strong knowledge of Power BI administration, governance, and tenant management.

- Experience managing workspaces, security roles, and deploying reports at scale.

- Familiarity with DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL for data modeling and transformation.

- Hands-on experience with managing on-premises data gateways and refresh schedules.

- Understanding of Microsoft 365 and Azure AD for access and identity management.

- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on performance and usability.

- Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
