Brockville General is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the part-time position of Chief Medical Information Officer.

Position Summary
Working under the direction of the Brockville General Chief of Staff and the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is responsible for the effective utilization of the Lumeo Regional Health Information System (HIS) within Brockville General. Acting as a vital link between the medical staff, hospital administration and regional Lumeo governance, the CMIO plays a key role in optimizing clinical informatics and enhancing patient care. The CMIO will lead the Health Information Systems (HIS) Subcommittee of the MAC and also be a member of the Lumeo Regional Integrated Committee (RIC), which consists of other local CMIOs and the regional CMIO for the Lumeo Project.
Qualified candidates should have clinical and administrative experience or equivalent education, leadership expertise and the ability to drive this digital health transformation across the organization. They will serve as a vital link between Brockville General as the HIS continues to optimize workflows, order sets and other core functions of the project. Along with regional players, the CMIO will also strategize on future projects for the HIS, such as artificial intelligence. While the Chief Medical Officer at Brockville General Hospital reports to the Medical Advisory Committee and Chief of Staff, they also will interact and work closely with the Information Management and Information Technology (IMIT) team at the hospital. This requires significant interaction with the Chief Information Officer at Brockville General as well as with other IMIT leadership, such as the Manager of Informatics and Change Management and Manager of IMIT.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a licensed physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and practices or will practice clinically at Brockville General. They should possess a strong interest or background in clinical informatics, digital health, health information systems, and be capable of bridging the gap between clinical practice and technology. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and the ability to represent Brockville General physician interests in a Regional HIS landscape.
Experience and education in clinical informatics, data analytics, digital health initiatives, quality improvement initiatives, and data-driven decision-making will be considered valuable assets supporting your application. Applicants are required to hold Active Hospital Privileges and are encouraged to provide clinical services to integrate and understand the needs and challenges faced by other healthcare providers at the hospital.
Responsibilities
The Chief Medical Information Officer operates within a dynamic and collaborative healthcare setting, serving as a bridge between Brockville General HIS users and the regional Lumeo HIS leadership. This role is deeply embedded in both the clinical and administrative environments, requiring close engagement with physicians, hospital leadership, IT teams, and regional governance structures. Administrative services provided by the Chief Medical Information Officer will include the following:
Clinical Informatics Portfolio:
- Collaborates with the Regional CMIO to implement regional priorities and projects within the hospital.
- Leads local adoption and optimization of Lumeo, ensuring it meets clinical needs.
- Engages physicians and clinical staff to inform local and regional informatics initiatives.
- Works with internal stakeholders to align Lumeo with hospital goals and regional strategies.
- Participates in regional forums to share best practices and support standardization.
Local Lumeo Workflow Stabilization and Optimization:
- Oversees stabilization of clinical workflows and Lumeo functionality within the hospital.
- Ensures alignment with regional standards and communicates local needs in regional discussions.
- Facilitates feedback on proposed changes and supports integration of Lumeo into clinical practice.
- Collaborates with physicians, Department Chiefs and the Medical Advisory Committee on stabilization and optimization initiatives.
- Chairs the Health Information System subcommittee of the MAC at Brockville General.
Physician Engagement and Adoption:
- Advocates for the clinical community in regional informatics planning.
- Promotes meaningful use of Lumeo and supports peer learning through communities of practice.
- Leads local change management and ensures effective communication of system updates.
- Tracks compliance with Lumeo best practices and workflows.
Strategic Partnerships and Alignment:
- Builds partnerships across departments to align Lumeo initiatives with hospital priorities.
- Represents the hospital in regional governance and contributes to decision making processes.
Quality Improvement, Data, Analytics, Innovation:
- Uses Lumeo data to support clinical decision-making and monitor performance indicators.
- Supports quality improvement and research initiatives through data integration.
- Collaborates on regional data governance and helps measure value and impact of Lumeo locally.
