Hybrid Work Schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote (subject to Hiring Manager discretion)

Business Days: 130, Hourly Rate: 130.00

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, upgrade, test, and implement software components for the central Special Events application used by event organizers and City divisions.
• Contribute to the development and integration of multiple sub‑forms into the primary application to support permit applications and event safety submissions.
• Document technical specifications, system designs, and integration details related to the application and associated components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues related to system functionality, data integrity, integrations, and user access.
• Collaborate with parallel development resources to ensure consistent implementation and successful integration of all solution components.
• Participate in the planning, estimation, and delivery of development tasks to support evolving program requirements.
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure the solution meets accessibility, privacy, security, and operational requirements for managing event‑related information.
• Support improved coordination and information sharing across City divisions through the development of an integrated and user‑friendly platform for special events.
• Track and resolve defects, issues, and enhancement requests related to application functionality, integrations, and user experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing Single Page Applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and frameworks such as Backbone, React, and Stencil.js (Web Components).
• 10+ years of experience integrating REST APIs (JSON, XML) with front‑end applications.
• 10+ years of experience developing digital products that comply with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x AA, AODA, WAI‑ARIA) and optimizing accessibility features across Web, iOS, and Android platforms.
• 10+ years of experience integrating secure authentication flows using OpenID Connect (OIDC) with PKCE, including implementing authorization‑code flows in Single Page Applications.
• Post‑secondary education in computer science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients about technical and business requirements.
• Strong background in architectural design, risk assessment, digital accessibility compliance, and QA/UAT support.

Deliverables

• Develop and document software components for the central Special Events application, enabling a streamlined permit application and event information submission process.
• Implement and maintain technical specifications, system design documents, and user guides for the application and integrated sub‑forms.
• Conduct unit, functional, integration, system, and regression testing, analyze test results, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
• Ensure accessibility, privacy, and security compliance for managing event and operational data.

Additional Terms

Assignment Duration: 6 months with a potential 6‑month extension.

Work Schedule: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week.
