Senior Civil Engineer

Working within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment will expose the successful candidate to collaboration with all four disciplines — Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering.

Reporting to the Civil Principal, you are a proactive and experienced engineering professional with strong leadership capabilities. You are passionate about infrastructure design, have a solid understanding of municipal, institutional, industrial, and commercial projects, and are confident in managing teams and delivering high-quality work under pressure. You bring not only technical strength but the ability to manage projects and mentor others with professionalism and precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through construction, including site development, roadworks, grading, stormwater, and underground utilities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate civil engineering components into larger building or infrastructure projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, and reports.
• Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, municipal standards, and client expectations.
• Conduct site inspections and support construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and issuing change notices.
• Provide technical mentorship and support to junior staff and designers.
• Participate in project meetings and client presentations as needed.
• Maintain documentation and ensure quality control in all phases of design and execution.
• Support proposal development, fee estimates, and business development efforts as required.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading and managing civil engineering projects, ideally within the institutional, commercial, healthcare, or industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, stormwater management, grading, and servicing.
• Proficiency in civil design software including Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD; experience with other modeling and analysis tools is considered an asset.
• Solid grasp of construction processes and ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Valid driver’s licence; occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
• 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
