ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager – Health Records, and Privacy Officer, this position is accountable to perform Health Record Technician I functions in accordance with legislative requirements policy, recognized procedures and established health records standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Post secondary education in Health Information Management or Office Administration Program or equivalent combination of education and/or significantly responsible health records experience.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to utilize a full range of computer applications in an office environment (i.e. Microsoft Word), demonstrating excellent keyboarding and data skills
• Ability to contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
• Demonstrated accuracy, organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records, actions and information
• Solid understanding of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
• Excellent knowledge of health record practices and procedures
• Knowledge and hands on work experience with hospital information systems, such as electronic medical records or enterprise systems, and archiving and scanning processes
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage work flow efficiently
• Must possess critical thinking and the ability to work as an effective team member while also demonstrating organizational and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Asset:

• Knowledge of Meditech EMR, Archiving and Scanning Modules

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
