Registered Nurse (Substance Use Health Team)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager – Physical Rehabilitation (or designate), the Addictions Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary Substance Use Health Team (SUHT). The RN supports inpatient rehabilitation teams and provides specialized nursing care to clients with substance use and/or concurrent disorders. The RN may be required to provide services across a multi-site environment, with responsibility for supporting additional locations within the Care Group as needs evolve and the service expands. This role focuses on evidence-based, person-centered care using a harm reduction approach, while also supporting staff education, program development, and system navigation to ensure continuity of care.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Current unrestricted certificate of registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Training in Mental Health/Addiction Medicine preferred
• Experience and good understanding of addiction treatment modalities, best practices and harm reduction approaches
• Experience working with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model and experience with addiction and mental health interventions

Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent clinical and assessment skills
• Excellent skills in problem-solving, time management and verbal and written communication
• Ability to work independently with the support from an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)  where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Ability to work irregular hours including some evening and weekend work
