Journeyman Plumber / Gas Fitter A/B / Journeyman HVAC

WHAT'S THE JOB?

NOTE - Position is shift work at remote sites

This role is responsible for performing plumbing, gas fitting, and/or refrigeration-related work associated with the installation, construction, maintenance, and renovation of relocatable modular structures. Under the direction of the Lead Hand and Mechanical Supervisor, the successful candidate will install and support the following systems:

• Water Distribution Systems;
• Sanitary Systems;
• Propane Distribution Systems;
• Fire Suppression Systems; and
• Assist with AC installation and recoveries;

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, with intermittent testing conducted throughout employment as required.

Additional position requirements:

• Understand and Comply with all OH&S requirements and HNCC safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety protocols;
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during work hours
• Perform a standard of work that complies with all trade specific codes and regulations, including but not limited to the CSA B149.1 Installation Gas Code, National Plumbing Code, Ontario Building Code, etc.;
• Installation/repairing/replacing of plumbing fixtures and appliances; Including showers, toilets, urinals, sinks, water heaters, kitchen equipment, washer/dryers, dishwashers, etc.;
• Installation/repairing/replacing of gas appliances; Including furnaces, water heaters, kitchen equipment, MUAs, etc.;
• Installation/repairing/replacing of HVAC equipment; Including ACs, coolers/freezers, MUAs, etc.;
• Daily usage of power and hand tools; such drills, saws, threaders, pliers, wrenches, torches, PEX crimpers and cutters, screwdrivers, etc.
• Daily usage of solvents, cements, primers, glues, etc. for welding and fusing various piping products together; ABS cement, PVC cement and primer, thread sealants/lubrication, soldering flux, metal paint, etc.;
• Material management, lifting and handling materials and equipment throughout site;
• Cleanliness and housekeeping of all areas inside and outside the camp; including but not limited to tool storage, material storage, work areas, etc.;
• Effectively manage time and meet necessary deadlines;
• Interacting and assisting other disciplines to ensure successful projects;
• Maintain HNCC camp equipment to the highest possible condition;
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein;

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're looking for a dependable, hands-on tradesperson who takes pride in their work and shows up ready to contribute each day. Holds a valid driver's licence and has a solid trade background, typically gained through a high school education along with an apprenticeship or Journeyman certification. Bringing practical, on-the-job experience, with an intentional awareness of relevant codes, standards, and safe work practices. Comfortable using the tools of the trade, stays organized, manage shifting priorities, and make sound decisions to keep work moving forward. Able to handle the physical demands of the role, communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, and consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety for yourself and everyone on the job.

• Work requires practical knowledge of the application of plumbing/gas fitting/HVAC techniques and methods normally acquired through at least 5 years of plumbing experience;
• Knowledge of applicable industry and company codes, standards, regulations, and procedures;
• Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others.
• Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• High attention to health and safety of self and co-workers;
