Must Haves:
- Senior Full Stack software development experience delivering complex healthcare, cloud, integration, or digital health modernization projects.
- Extensive Java and Spring Boot microservices development experience.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and FHIR APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Smile CDR implementation and customization.
- Experience with AWS HealthLake and FHIR repository implementation.
- Experience developing healthcare interoperability solutions using FHIR R4/R4B, SMART on FHIR, HL7v2, OAuth2/OIDC, and JWT.
- Experience integrating healthcare applications with Provider Registry, Master Data Management systems, and the EPIC EHR, Meditech and Cerner
- Experience with Central Intake hubs such as RICOH and Novari

- Experience using AWS services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, IAM, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation or CDK.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain, and support PHSD backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and enhance React-based user interfaces supporting provider search, directory management, and administration.
- Design and implement FHIR R4/R4B APIs using Smile CDR and AWS HealthLake.
- Develop real-time provider data synchronization between PHSD and the Agency master data management platforms.
- Design and implement integrations with Provider Registry, hospital information systems, and provincial healthcare services.
- Build scalable healthcare search capabilities using OpenSearch and FHIR search standards.
- Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs supporting internal and external consuming applications.
- Implement SMART on FHIR authentication and authorization workflows.
- Develop secure OAuth2/OIDC authentication and JWT authorization services.
- Implement healthcare interoperability using HL7v2 and FHIR messaging patterns.
- Design scalable cloud-native AWS architectures supporting high availability and operational resilience.
- Develop data transformation, validation, synchronization, and governance services supporting provider, practitioner, organization, healthcare service, and location information.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews.
- Support automated testing, CI/CD deployment pipelines, production releases, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Produce technical documentation, API specifications, deployment documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
Desired Skills:
- Experience implementing or supporting provider directory solutions.
- Experience integrating with hospital information systems including Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), MEDITECH, or other Canadian EMRs.
- Experience implementing provider, practitioner, organization, location, and healthcare service master data management solutions.

- Experience configuring and supporting AWS HealthLake, Smile CDR, and healthcare interoperability platforms.
- Experience implementing secure SMART on FHIR applications, confidential clients, and backend services.
- Experience designing highly available AWS architectures using ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, Aurora PostgreSQL, and CloudWatch.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, auditing, and operational support using AWS CloudWatch and related AWS services.
Required Skills:
- Strong software development experience using Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and modern enterprise application development practices.
- Experience designing, developing, securing, and supporting RESTful APIs and distributed microservice architectures.
- Experience implementing healthcare interoperability solutions using FHIR R4/R4B, HL7 v2, SMART on FHIR, and healthcare messaging standards.
- Experience developing and configuring Smile CDR FHIR repositories, transactions, validation, search, and interoperability services.
- Experience implementing healthcare data solutions using AWS HealthLake and integrating healthcare data across multiple systems.
- Experience developing secure authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and role based access control.
- Experience integrating healthcare applications with Provider Registry, Master Data Management platforms, hospital information systems
