Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Maintains the building:

1. Assists the Pool Operator to maintain swimming pool(s), performing duties, such as, but not limited to:
   • Skimming and vacuuming pool(s)
   • Changes hair baskets
   • Power washing and cleaning the pool deck
   • Cleaning & disinfecting surfaces
   • Scrubbing the stainless-steel surfaces

1. Performs general maintenance duties such as, but not inclusive of:
   • Clean washrooms, changing rooms, saunas, and showers.
   • Make minor repairs to building and equipment
   • Sweep and wash floors, stairs, bleachers,
   • Collects garbage in and around facility
   • Shovels and uses the snow blower to remove snow
   • Contacts snowplows when required
   • Paints as required
   • Vacuums, polishes, cleans floors, walls, stairs, windows, etc.
   • Refill soap and toilet paper dispensers
   • Cleans drains of debris
   • Mold removal
   • Clean windows and glass around the facility
   • Wash walls and ceilings
   • Clean, organize, and maintain equipment and tools
   • Assist with set up/take down of rentals, events, meetings, programs
   • Change light bulbs
   • Collect and sort all recycling

1. Operate equipment including but not limited to:
   • Snow removal equipment,
   • Floor scrubbers
   • Genie boom lift
   • Pool Vacuum
   • Power Washer

1. Performs other facility related duties, including, but not limited to:
   • Cleaning & organizing of practice first aid equipment
   • Re-stringing pool lane ropes
   • Removing and install signage
   • Unloading delivery trucks
   • Ability to deal with the public (handle complaints, inquiries, accept deliveries) in a pleasant and courteous manner.

1. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

Essential

• Grade 10 education, or equivalent, as determined by the Corporation,
• Excellent physical condition, must be able to perform lifting up to 50 pounds
• Experience cleaning,
• Mechanical ability,
• Good communication skills,
• WHMIS training,
• Ladder Safety Training,
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C

Preferred

• Propane Handling Certificate an asset,
• Working at Heights Certificate an asset

Working Conditions:

Usual recreation conditions. Works in the cold and sometimes heat.  Overtime required, resulting in minimal supervision.  Deals with the public and users of the facility and facility staff.
