Senior Admissions Test Content Specialist (Casper) - English & French
$75k - $85k per yearAcuity Insights
- Remote job
Help shape how human potential is understood.
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys untangling complexity, spotting subtle patterns, and asking thoughtful questions before settling on an answer, this might be the role you’ve been looking for.
Traditional admissions measures do a good job of assessing academic achievement, but they don’t tell the whole story. People are more than their grades. Human skills like empathy, ethics, communication, resilience, and collaboration matter too, especially for the professionals our communities rely on every day.
Casper helps higher education programs better understand applicants’ human skills, giving them a more complete picture of each person’s potential.
As a Senior Admissions Test Content Specialist, you’ll play an important role in making that possible. Working alongside researchers, assessment specialists, and fellow content experts, you’ll help build the assessments that applicants complete and institutions rely on to make admissions decisions. You’ll use language, critical thinking, and judgment to ensure every assessment is clear, balanced, fair, and ready for use in high-stakes admissions decisions.
Beyond writing and reviewing assessment content, you’ll own recurring content workflows that keep our assessments accurate, consistent, and ready for use. You’ll coordinate review cycles, bring together perspectives from multiple contributors, and make decisions that balance evidence, quality, and fairness.
This isn’t traditional content writing. It’s collaborative work that blends language, analytical thinking, and sound judgment to build assessments that help people be understood more completely.
This role requires professional fluency in English and French. English is the primary language of collaboration across Acuity, while French is used as part of the assessment content you’ll help build and review.
This is a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in Canada.
Before you apply: Thoughtful use of AI is encouraged. If you use it to support your application, make sure it helps communicate your experience clearly and accurately. The strongest applications are authentic, original, and unmistakably yours.
The Work You’ll Do
Every Casper assessment is carefully assembled from a large library of scenarios, questions, and supporting content. Building an assessment isn’t simply a matter of selecting questions. It requires hundreds of thoughtful decisions to ensure the final assessment is balanced, fair, and measures the human skills it’s designed to assess.
That’s where you’ll come in.
Working alongside experienced teammates, researchers, and reviewers, you’ll help transform individual pieces of content into complete admissions assessments. You’ll evaluate language, identify inconsistencies, balance competing considerations, and think carefully about how each decision shapes both the applicant experience and the quality of the assessment.
Some days you’ll refine wording to remove ambiguity. Other days you’ll review how scenarios work together across an entire assessment, identify gaps, improve supporting resources, or prepare new content for future test cycles.
No two days look exactly alike, but almost every day involves asking thoughtful questions, weighing trade-offs, and making decisions where nuance matters.
As Casper continues to grow, you’ll also help improve how we build assessments by exploring new tools, including AI, that allow us to scale without compromising the quality, fairness, and care applicants and institutions expect.
In your first few months, you’ll:
- Learn how Casper assessments are designed, compiled, and reviewed alongside experienced teammates.
- Build confidence contributing to live assessment cycles while developing an understanding of the frameworks that guide our decisions.
- Learn how we evaluate clarity, fairness, balance, and validity across an entire assessment.
- Begin contributing ideas and asking questions that strengthen both our content and the processes behind it.
As you grow, you’ll:
- Compile complete Casper assessments in partnership with a reviewer, balancing content, timing, and assessment objectives.
- Refine language and structure so every scenario and question is clear, consistent, and accessible.
- Apply thoughtful judgment when categorizing scenarios and connecting them to the human skills they measure.
- Help steward the quality of our assessment content by coordinating recurring review workflows, bringing together perspectives from colleagues and subject matter experts, and ensuring supporting materials are accurate, consistent, and ready for use.
- Develop and refine supporting content and documentation that strengthens the quality, consistency, and integrity of our assessments.
- Explore opportunities to improve how we work, including using AI to streamline repetitive tasks while preserving the human judgment that underpins our assessments.
- Collaborate with researchers, writers, reviewers, and production specialists to continuously improve how Casper is built.
What You’ll Help Make Possible
The work you do won’t just shape individual assessments. It will influence how applicants experience Casper, how institutions make admissions decisions, and how we continue to improve the way we build assessments.
Build assessments people trust. Create assessments that are clear, balanced, fair, and grounded in research.
Strengthen how we work. Improve the tools, processes, and ways of working that help us grow without compromising the quality applicants and institutions expect.
Advance the craft of assessment development. Contribute ideas that improve how we compile, review, and continuously refine Casper assessments.
Shape what’s next. Help thoughtfully incorporate new technologies, including AI, while preserving human judgment at the heart of our work.
Every improvement you make, whether it’s refining a single question or strengthening an assessment process, contributes to something much bigger: helping people be understood more completely.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role isn’t about mastering everything right away. It’s about steadily building the judgment, confidence, and context to make thoughtful decisions that strengthen every assessment you contribute to.
In your first few months, success looks like:
- Building a strong understanding of how Casper assessments are designed, compiled, and reviewed.
- Applying careful attention to language, structure, and detail while learning when to ask questions and when to trust your judgment.
- Identifying inconsistencies, raising thoughtful questions, and looking beyond the obvious answer.
- Welcoming feedback as an essential part of the work, using it to strengthen both your thinking and the assessments you help build.
- Becoming a dependable teammate who contributes consistently and helps keep assessment development moving forward.
As you grow, success means:
- Confidently compiling and reviewing assessments with increasing independence.
- Recognizing patterns, connections, and potential issues before they become problems.
- Exercising sound judgment to balance clarity, fairness, validity, and the overall applicant experience.
- Contributing ideas that improve how Casper assessments are built, whether through better processes, clearer content, or thoughtful use of AI.
- Becoming a trusted thought partner whose perspective strengthens both our assessments and the way we work.
Over time, you’ll develop something that’s difficult to teach but invaluable to the team: the judgment to recognize subtle issues, ask the right questions, and make thoughtful decisions that strengthen both our assessments and the experience of the people who take them.
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll join Acuity’s Assessment Content Team, the group responsible for bringing Casper to life, from developing new scenarios to building the final assessments applicants complete.
The work is highly collaborative. Questions are encouraged, feedback is part of everyday work, and it’s common for teammates to think through difficult decisions together. Some of the best ideas begin with, “ I’m not sure about this…” or “ Can I get another perspective?”
Everyone reviews work, and everyone’s work is reviewed. That’s intentional. It’s how we learn from one another, strengthen our thinking, and ensure every assessment meets the high standards applicants and institutions expect.
You’ll work most closely with teammates who specialize in assessment compilation and review, learning from their experience as you build your own judgment and expertise. Along the way, you’ll also collaborate with:
- Scenario developers and production specialists , who create the scenarios and video content that form the foundation of every Casper assessment.
- Researchers and psychometricians , who help ensure our assessments are valid, reliable, and measure the human skills they’re designed to assess.
- Operations and enablement partners , who coordinate assessment delivery, improve processes, and support the systems behind our work.
As you grow in the role, you’ll become an important contributor to the conversations that shape how Casper evolves, not just through the assessments you help build, but through the ideas, questions, and perspectives you bring to the team.
What You Bring to the Table
There’s no single career path that leads here.
Some of our team members came from education. Others from curriculum development, editing, assessment, instructional design, content development, or research. What they have in common isn’t a specific job title. It’s the way they approach complex work and the judgment they bring to it. They enjoy untangling difficult questions, looking at problems from different angles, and arriving at well-reasoned decisions.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to help shape how human potential is understood, here’s what we’ve found helps people thrive on this team.
Experience Working with Language.
You’ve built strong written communication skills through professional experience where language mattered. That might have been through teaching, curriculum development, instructional design, assessment, editing, academic publishing, content development, communications, or another role where precision, clarity, and consistency were essential.
You know language isn’t just about sounding good. It’s about communicating ideas clearly and minimizing ambiguity.
Professional Fluency in English and French.
You have professional written fluency in both English and French and enjoy working carefully with language in both. You’re able to recognize nuance, refine wording, and make sound editorial decisions while preserving meaning and intent across each language.
Making Thoughtful Decisions.
You’ve worked in an environment where judgment mattered.
You’re experienced at weighing competing considerations, applying frameworks or guidelines consistently, and making careful decisions where there isn’t always a single obvious answer. You understand that small decisions can have meaningful downstream consequences, and you enjoy thinking through those trade-offs.
Delivering High-Quality, Detail-Oriented Work.
You’ve managed work where accuracy and consistency couldn’t be left to chance.
Whether reviewing complex documents, developing educational materials, editing content, conducting quality assurance, or coordinating detailed projects, you’ve demonstrated the ability to produce reliable, high-quality work while balancing competing priorities and recurring responsibilities.
AI Is Already Part of How You Work.
AI isn’t something you’re curious about trying someday. It’s already part of your day-to-day workflow.
Whether you use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or other AI tools, you’re already using them to research, organize information, explore ideas, improve writing, or reduce repetitive work. More importantly, you’ve developed the judgment to know when AI is helping, when it needs direction, and when human thinking needs to lead.
You enjoy exploring new technology, experimenting with better ways of working, and thoughtfully incorporating AI where it genuinely improves the quality of your work.
How You Approach Work
Experience will help you get started. The way you think will determine how successful you become.
Thoughtful Judgment.
You enjoy working through complex questions where there isn’t always a single right answer. You’re energized by nuance, curious enough to explore different perspectives, and thoughtful enough to resist jumping to easy conclusions. You know when to slow down, ask good questions, and think through the implications before moving forward.
Curiosity.
You naturally investigate inconsistencies, look for patterns, and enjoy understanding why something works before deciding how it could work better. You find satisfaction in uncovering insights, solving complex problems, and continually learning.
Perspective-Taking.
You’re able to step into someone else’s shoes, anticipating how different people might interpret language, experience a scenario, or respond to an assessment. You understand that strong assessment development starts with understanding the people it’s designed for.
Collaboration & Feedback.
You enjoy discussing ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and improving your thinking through conversations with others. You see review as an opportunity to strengthen both the work and the people behind it.
Organization & Reliability.
You’re able to manage recurring work, balance multiple priorities, and consistently follow through on commitments. People know they can count on you to deliver consistently high-quality work.
Adaptability.
You enjoy learning, evolving, and improving the way you work. As priorities shift, processes change, and new challenges emerge, you’re quick to adapt, open to new ideas, and motivated by finding better ways to move forward.
A Diversity of Perspectives Makes Us Stronger
We know there are many ways to develop the skills this role requires, and we know great candidates don’t always meet every bullet point in a job posting.
If your experience looks a little different but you believe your judgment, curiosity, and approach to solving complex problems would help you succeed here, we’d encourage you to apply.
We also know that better assessments are built by teams with diverse perspectives and lived experiences. Whether that’s through your cultural background, language skills, professional experience, or the unique perspective you bring to your work, we’d love to learn more about what you could add to our team.
How We Support You
- Transparent compensation. The starting salary for Senior roles is between $75,000 - $85,000 CAD. Final offers reflect experience, scope, market alignment, and internal equity.
- Learning that grows with you. A $3,000 annual learning budget to invest in your development, whether that’s deepening technical skills, building confidence, or exploring new areas of interest.
- Shared success. Access to employee stock options, so you share in the value you help create.
- Remote-first work. Fully remote within Canada, with up to six weeks per year to work internationally.
- Time to rest and reset. Self-directed vacation (most teammates take 4–6 weeks annually), monthly Acuity Days (a collective Friday off), plus a two-week company-wide closure each December.
- Comprehensive care. Health benefits from day one for you and your dependents.
- Future-focused support. A 2% GRSP matching program to help you plan ahead.
- Support for growing families. A 16-week parental leave top-up beyond EI, available to all parents.
What Happens After You Apply
We review every application carefully. Whether you apply directly, are referred, or connect through a recruiter or hiring manager, you’ll receive equal consideration.
We don’t use AI to evaluate applications, though you may be automatically screened out if you don’t meet baseline requirements (e.g. Canadian residency and valid work authorization). In some interviews, AI may help with note-taking, but all evaluations and decisions are made by real humans.
Our interviews are two-way conversations. We want to understand your career, abilities, and goals, and help you assess whether this opportunity and team are the right fit for you.
Steps in the Process
Our hiring process typically takes 2–4 weeks from initial conversation to final decision.
- Application Review. A real person reviews your application for potential fit.
- Intro Conversation. A conversation with a member of our Talent team to learn about your career journey, what you’re looking for next, and to introduce you to Acuity, Casper, and the role.
- Hiring Manager Conversation. A conversation focused on how you approach complex work, make thoughtful decisions, and collaborate with others. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the role, the team, and the challenges we’re solving.
- Assessment Exercise. We’ll ask you to work through an exercise that reflects the kind of thinking this role requires. We want to understand how you approach a complex question, explore it from different angles, use judgment to make decisions, and communicate your thinking. The exercise will also give you a chance to show how you use technology to support your work.
- Team Conversations. You’ll meet members of the Content Team to explore how we work together, discuss real examples of collaboration and feedback, and give both you and the team the opportunity to see what it would be like to work together.
- Decision. The hiring manager reviews feedback from the interview team and typically makes a decision within 2 to 4 business days.
- Offer & Reference Checks. If it’s a match, we’ll move to references and a formal offer.
Life at Acuity Insights
We’re a remote-first team of 135+ people who care deeply about our work and about each other.
Our culture is intentionally designed. As we’ve grown, we’ve made deliberate choices about how we work together, prioritizing trust, flexibility, and a sustainable pace so people can do meaningful work over the long term.
That commitment has been recognized externally. Acuity Insights has been named one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers for the second consecutive year, reflecting our focus on building a strong, people-first environment.
Day to day, that shows up in how we collaborate:
- High trust and autonomy in how work gets done
- Thoughtful, async-friendly communication across a distributed team
- Space for deep work, balanced with intentional moments of connection
- A culture grounded in care, curiosity, and shared purpose
As we continue to grow, we’re focused on maintaining that balance, building a company where people can do their best work and grow over time, without losing what makes the environment feel human.
About Acuity Insights
Acuity Insights builds products that help higher education institutions make better decisions about people, from admissions through to development.
Our work is grounded in a simple idea: that people are more than their grades, and that potential can be understood and developed, not just measured.
Our Casper situational judgment test (SJT), created by researchers at McMaster University, has been completed by over 1 million applicants and is one of the most widely used open-response SJTs in higher education, backed by nearly 20 years of research.
Today, we are evolving our products to better connect assessment, insight, and development, helping institutions not just identify potential, but actively support its growth over time. As part of that evolution, we’re increasingly building toward a more connected ecosystem across assessment, education, and learner development. While teams remain focused on their individual products, we’re creating stronger connections across our platform to deliver more cohesive experiences for institutions and learners.
