Analyst - MSALABS (Longueuil)

MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi‑tech analysis equipment.

The Analyst is responsible for the processing customer samples for analysis and ensuring that samples are prepared in a timely matter and in accordance with standard operating procedures. This position description does not limit the responsibilities of the incumbent and is available for amendment. The incumbent may be called upon to many other duties, for which he/she is deemed competent, as required due to workflow in the laboratory and/or as instructed by line management. Willingness to travel and work site hours/days as required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Data Approval procedures in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or recognized standard reference methods.
• Report any deviation from documented procedures to the Spectroscopy & Data Approval Manager.
• Sign and Issue Test Reports when authorization is received.
• Inform the Spectroscopy & Data Approval Manager of any nonconforming event related to customer samples, or other departmental operations.
• Inform the Spectroscopy & Data Approval Manager conditions within the department.
• Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire.
• Monitor the performance of the equipment and QCs and report all deviations to the Data Approval shift lead or manager.
• Practicing good housekeeping.
• Communicate general laboratory issues to Spectroscopy & Data Approval Manager as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Experience

• 0-3 years’ experience in a commercial laboratory.
• BSc or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
• Well-versed in the operation and implementation of LIMS.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Able to work effectively in a team workplace as well as independently.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Detail orientated and ability to work very well under pressure
