Job Summary
Install, repair and replace a variety of floor coverings in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials accurately, and complete installations to meet quality and safety standards.

Main Duties
- Inspect and prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing surfaces prior to installation.
- Measure, lay out, and cut carpets, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and other flooring materials to fit specifications.
- Apply adhesives, fasteners, and seam treatments; secure and finish floor coverings according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Install baseboards, thresholds, transitions, and trim to complete flooring installations.
- Perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance on existing floor coverings and recommend appropriate remedies.
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools, and follow workplace health and safety procedures on job sites.
Requirements
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent education.
- Completion of vocational training or relevant on-the-job training in floor covering installation or a related trade, or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience installing multiple types of flooring such as carpet, vinyl, laminate, and hardwood.
- Ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, and calculate material estimates.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, kneel, bend, and work in varied conditions.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and ability to follow safety procedures.
