POSITIONS SUMMARY: The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program aims to increase access to publicly funded, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and related approaches for Ontarians with depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions (i.e. obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, health anxiety etc.). The program is delivered through regional psychotherapy networks as a coordinated provincial program. The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy West Region (OSP West) program is jointly operated by St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and St. Joseph's Health Care London. For this position, the applicant will be employed by SJHH and will be expected to support centralized screening, intake and triage for the OSP program across the entire Ontario West region.
The OSP Intake Clinician will utilize a stepped care clinical model and standardized assessment tools in conducting clinical intake and triage assessments to determine program suitability, main problem descriptor, treatment modality and/or appropriate service navigation. The OSP Intake Clinician will participate in training to ensure high quality assessment and triage in adherence with the OSP Clinical Model. The OSP Intake Clinician will additionally work in collaboration with the centralized intake team (e.g. administrative assistants, screeners, therapists etc.) to support all screening, referral management and intake processes for the OSP West program. This position will focus on quality initiatives such as patient satisfaction and feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS:- Master's degree in social work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Psychotherapy required
- Registered member in good standing with relevant professional college/regulatory body.
- Minimum 2-3 years of clinical experience in the mental health and/or addictions fi eld, including:
- Experience in screening, triage, clinical assessment, and service navigation in the mental health and/or addictions fi eld.
- Experience working with people with depression and/or anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive concerns and post-traumatic stress).
- Knowledge and applied Experience in science Patient Experience improvement approaches, Service design, Quality improvement science is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and practiced skills in providing culturally safe and responsive mental health services toclients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is preferred.
- Experience working in a community-based or outpatient setting.
- Comprehensive clinical intake assessment in mental health/addictions from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, client-centered framework.
- Standardized diagnostic assessment tools, e.g. DART, PHQ-9, GAD-7, OCI-R, SPIN, PCL-5 etc.
- Suicide risk assessment, safety planning and crisis intervention.
- A stepped-care clinical model/pathway and related utilization.
- Diagnostic categories and distinguishing features of in-scope problems (i.e. depression, anxiety and anxiety-relatedconditions) as listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), and the etiology and treatmentof these disorders.
- The science and practice of structured, evidenced-based individual and group-based psychotherapy (i.e. CBT, CPT).
- Motivational interviewing techniques to assess treatment readiness.
- Local and provincial mental health and addictions programs/services and experience providing service navigation basedon client need and program availability.
- Intersectionality and social determinants of health related to equitable access to, and participation in mental health care.
- Anti-racist, anti-oppressive theory and practice principles in mental health/addictions at a client and system-level.
- Relevant sections of legislation, i.e. Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Regulated HealthProfessions Act, Health Care Consent Act, and professional standards to ensure compliance and consistency in provisionof client care.
- Emergency patient care procedures as taught in Emergency First Response, Crisis Intervention and fi re procedures topromote coordinated and consistent response to emergency events, i.e. Code Blue; Code White, Code Red.
- Program and hospital policies and procedures in order to practice within the expected standards of the organization andto recognize abnormal events that may affect client care, activities, or safety and need to be reported to a manager, inorder to provide a safe environment for client and staff.
- Computer software to generate correspondence and input data for a variety program specifi c tools e.g., Microsoft Offi ceSuite, workload measurement, and electronic health records.
- Fluency in French and/or profi ciency in a second language is considered an asset.
- Ability to work with clients from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds.
- Passionate about contributing to positive social change and commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism to reducehealth disparities and promote health equity.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills to assess client need and develop clinically relevant treatment plans.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
- Teamwork skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships, problem solve and resolve confl ict with inter-professional staff across the OSP network (e.g. administrative staff, clinical staff, regional therapists, consultants,program managers, and directors).
- Time management, organizational and prioritization skills in order to effectively address multiple tasks/duties andtimelines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Previous experience in program development and program evaluation.
- Attention to detail in collecting and reporting client and program information.
- Comfort in utilizing an online learning management system and in providing care virtually and/or by telephone.
- Good work performance and attendance record is essential.
- Review completed client referral package and clinical measures/forms with consideration of eligibility criteria and in-scope problems assessed/treated within the OSP program.
- Work collaboratively with clients in conducting standardized Clinical Intake and Triage assessments (herein referred toas intake assessment) in accordance with the OSP Clinical Model and Training guidelines to: (1) determine suitabilityfor OSP, (2) identify main problem descriptor, and (3) determine individualized treatment plan in accordance with thestepped care clinical pathway
- Utilize principles of measurement-based care in the administration and analysis of problem-specifi c measures (e.g. PHQ-9, GAD-7, OCI-R, SPIN, PCL-5 etc.) to inform assessment and treatment.
- Determine level of risk and intervene as clinically indicated (i.e. crisis intervention, safety planning, communication ofrisk), utilizing best practice guidelines and SJHH policies/procedures
- Triage referral based on urgency and/or provide appropriate service navigation to meet immediate safety needs prior toparticipation in the OSP program.
- Maintain communication related to risk assessment and safety planning with OSP West team and other relevanthealthcare providers, with client consent
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to determine client's level of readiness for treatment.
- Discuss client circumstances that may impact treatment participation
- Determine appropriate OSP treatment pathway as informed by intake assessment and stepped care model or if furtherdiagnostic assessment is required
- Refer client to appropriate OSP service, which may include scheduling initial intake appointment with OSP CBT Therapistto initiate treatment
- Provide comprehensive service navigation and/or referrals for clients whose needs are beyond the scope of the OSPprogram; communicate rationale and recommendations to client and relevant care providers.
- Actively incorporate anti-racist, anti-oppressive practices and principles in the delivery of client-centered, trauma-informed care at all levels of service.
- Work collaboratively with clients, family members, referral sources, community partners, and the OSP program's networkin the provision of accessible, equitable and inclusive care (e.g. interpretation services, culturally appropriate and relevantcare, incorporating anti-racism and decolonizing approaches to care, considering social determinants of health andtrauma-informed approaches).
- Provide support to OSP West central intake team (e.g. administrative assistants, Intake Workers), as needed.
- Assist the Program Manager, Network Clinical Lead(s), Clinical Consultants and other OSP CBT Therapists on specific OSP West projects related to the regional development of the OSP West program, as required
