Payroll Administrator-Multi-Client Payroll Specialist (Maternity leave contract)

POWERGROUP Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Administrator – Multi-Client Payroll Specialist to join our team for a 12–14 month maternity leave contract.

The anticipated start date is December 2026; however, we are flexible and open to an earlier start date for the right candidate to allow for training and a smooth transition.

This position is responsible for managing payroll processing for multiple clients across a variety of industries. It is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys variety, can confidently manage multiple deadlines, and is comfortable receiving payroll information in different formats and working across multiple systems.

The successful candidate will have strong payroll knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to independently organize, review, reconcile, and process payroll accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll for multiple client accounts on weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules.
• Review, validate, and organize payroll information received through spreadsheets, timekeeping systems, emails, reports, and client portals.
• Enter, process, and reconcile payroll information across different payroll platforms and software systems.
• Ensure wages, deductions, benefits, vacation pay, bonuses, statutory deductions, and remittances are calculated and processed accurately.
• Complete payroll-related reconciliations, including T4s, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and WSIB.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain employee records and payroll documentation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Respond professionally and efficiently to payroll inquiries from clients and employees.
• Prepare payroll reports, statutory remittances, Records of Employment (ROEs), and year-end payroll documentation.
• Assist with year-end payroll processes and reporting.
• Stay current with applicable payroll legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Manage multiple client payroll deadlines while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, preferably within a multi-client, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll service, or similar environment.

• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or currently working toward certification, is considered an asset.
• Strong experience completing payroll reconciliations, including T4, EHT, and WSIB.
• Experience working with multiple payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks is required.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, source remittances, vacation pay, and payroll compliance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll software.
• Experience communicating with clients or employees on payroll matters while maintaining confidentiality.
• A degree in accounting is considered an asset.

Benefits

• Salary - $60,000 - $65,000 based on experience and skills.
