The role involves garden centre maintenance activities such as watering and caring for annuals, perennials and nursery stock, stocking shelves, merchandising and general housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist and thank customers in a friendly manner, over the phone and in person.
• Educate customers in the care and maintenance of annuals, perennials, nursery stock and related products.
• Recommend related products to customers so they leave with everything they need.
• Assist in the receipt of garden centre products.
• Ensure that retail tasks are executed efficiently (e.g., maintain and rotate annuals, perennials and nursery stock, stocking, labels, facing, clean area etc.).
• Perform hole checks to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

• No experience is required! – We will provide all the training you need!
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week‑ends and holidays)
• Approachable
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing or walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, using a ladder, twisting, turning and reaching
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make decisions
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to operate a cash register (asset)
• Pesticide handling license (asset)
• Knowledge of nursery stock and horticultural products (asset)
