As part of a 12-person volunteer board, directors help shape BBYN’s programs, partnerships, and long-term impact. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to community-building work that makes the Yukon a more connected and welcoming place for newcomer youth.

– Support BBYN programs, events, and community partnerships
– Attend monthly board meetings (approximately 90 minutes each)
– Contribute to working group work as needed
– Champion BBYN within the community and represent the organization at events
– Uphold BBYN’s bylaws, code of conduct, and conflict of interest policy
– Participate in collaborative decision-making and ensure organizational accountability
Experience and Skills

– Nonprofit governance or board service

Lived experience as a newcomer, immigrant, or refugee in the Yukon is equally valued. We welcome candidates whose perspective comes from any combination of professional, community, or personal experience.
Strong communication, reliability, and willingness to engage in collaborative decision-making are essential for all directors.
Estimated Time Commitment
Approximately 5 hours per month, including:
– Monthly board meetings (approximately 90 minutes, in person or virtual)
– Committee or working group work as needed
– Occasional events, community engagements, or representation
