Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients in the Medical-Surgical unit. Working under the direction of the Unit Manager, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of patients in an acute care setting. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, high-quality patient outcomes while maintaining professional and ethical nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Medical-Surgical unit.
- Assess, monitor, and document patients' conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and provide timely interventions.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum one (1) year of recent Medical-Surgical or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Compensation
Pay Rate: $50–$62 CAD per hour
